Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer – EV Charging Infrastructure will lead the design and implementation of EV charging systems, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. This role requires a Professional Engineer (PE) license, strong project management skills, and the ability to oversee technical design, team leadership, and stakeholder coordination. Experience in site lighting or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) work is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead EV charging infrastructure projects from concept to completion, ensuring on-time and budget-compliant delivery.
- Oversee all project phases, including site selection, system design, permitting, and installation.
Technical Design
- Develop and oversee electrical designs for EV charging systems, including power distribution and equipment integration.
- Ensure all designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local regulations, and safety standards.
- Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other electrical design software.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and guide engineers and technicians in the development and execution of EV charging projects.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, utility companies, and regulatory authorities to ensure successful project execution.
- Address technical challenges and provide solutions that align with project requirements.
Compliance & Industry Standards
- Ensure strict adherence to relevant electrical codes and industry best practices.
- Stay updated on advancements in EV charging technology and incorporate them into project designs.
Business Development Support
- Identify new project opportunities and contribute to proposal development.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and potential clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, with a focus on EV charging infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of power systems, electrical distribution, and grounding principles.
- Expertise in electrical codes and standards, including the NEC.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other electrical design software.
- Familiarity with EV charging equipment and protocols (e.g., SAE J1772, CHAdeMO).
- Experience in site lighting or MEP work is preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
