My client, the U.S. division of an established international engineering and manufacturing group, is seeking a Defense Technical Sales Engineer to lead new business development efforts within the military, aerospace and naval sector. This organization specializes in advanced shock and vibration isolation systems used to protect mission-critical equipment in rugged and high-impact environments.
This is not a passive account management role. This is a revenue-driving, defense-focused hunter position where your ability to prospect, build relationships, and translate MIL-STD driven technical requirements into engineered solutions will directly impact U.S. market growth.

Position Summary
The Defense Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for developing and executing a commercial strategy focused on expanding sales within the U.S. defense, aerospace, naval, and military sector.
This role combines technical credibility with aggressive new business development. You will prospect and engage defense OEMs, prime contractors, and naval system integrators; define application requirements with customers; interpret MIL-STD shock and vibration specifications; develop engineered solution proposals; and manage opportunities from specification through contract award.
You will serve as the technical-commercial interface between customers and internal engineering teams, ensuring customer requirements are clearly defined and translated into effective shock and vibration isolation solutions within ITAR-controlled programs.
What You’ll Do
Identify and develop new business opportunities within defense OEMs, naval system integrators, and military contractors
Prospect, qualify, and pursue new accounts within DoD aerospace and shipboard markets
Engage directly with engineering teams to define specifications and interpret MIL-STD shock and vibration requirements
Develop and present technical and commercial proposals for custom isolation systems
Support customers through long defense sales cycles including NDA agreements, ITAR considerations, and contract negotiations
Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure accurate solution development and technical feasibility
Represent the company at defense, aerospace and naval trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience in technical sales or application engineering of engineered products
Direct experience selling into the defense, DoD, aerospace, naval, or military OEM market (required)
Experience working within ITAR-regulated environments and understanding export control considerations
Familiarity with MIL-STD shock and vibration standards including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-167, MIL-STD-901, and MIL-STD-202
Experience supporting applications subject to NAVSEA shock qualification or shipboard high-impact standards
Strong understanding of vibration isolation, shock mitigation systems, ruggedized mechanical assemblies, or dynamic mechanical applications
Experience navigating government contracts and defense procurement environments
Hunter mentality with a proven ability to generate new business
Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required
