Senior Research Scientist, Molecular Diagnostics Innovation
My client is expanding and seeks a Research Scientist focused on Molecular Diagnostics Innovation.
The ideal candidate will take on the following responsibilities:
- Pioneer novel approaches to nucleic acid amplification and detection, moving beyond conventional methodologies to develop next-generation diagnostic platforms
- Design and optimize breakthrough assays that leverage deep understanding of enzyme engineering, nucleic acid chemistry, and molecular binding interactions
- Lead research initiatives from concept through proof-of-principle, with autonomy to explore unconventional solutions to diagnostic challenges
- Bridge discovery and application, translating fundamental insights about nucleic acids and enzymes into practical diagnostic tools
- Contribute to the IP portfolio through invention disclosures, patent applications, and technical documentation
- Share your expertise through mentorship, presentations, and detailed experimental documentation
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field
- 5+ years post-doctoral or industry experience focused on nucleic acid chemistry, enzyme systems, and molecular diagnostics
- Deep hands-on experience with restriction enzymes, ligases, polymerases, and nucleic acid manipulation techniques
- Proven track record of designing and optimizing novel molecular assays to create new approaches
- Experience applying enzymes and nucleic acids to solve real-world detection and amplification challenges
