This leadership role involves supervising, coordinating, and actively participating in a range of diagnostic, invasive, and angiographic procedures performed on both inpatient and outpatient populations within the Invasive Cardiovascular Lab.
Responsibilities
·Direct and oversee daily operations of the cardiac catheterization lab, ensuring optimal workflow and patient throughput.
·Ensure and maintains full compliance with federal, state, and institutional healthcare regulations and safety standards.
·Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of Cath Lab personnel.
·Collaborate with Cardiovascular service line leadership, contributing to strategic planning, operational goals, and service line growth.
·Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.
·Assist with billing and coding processes
·Assist with supply management, including inventory monitoring, ordering, and cost-efficient utilization of materials.
·Assist the Business Manager with operating and capital budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and resource optimization.
·Implement and monitor quality assurance initiatives, including clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and staff engagement.
·Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, benchmarking, and adoption of best practices in cardiovascular care.
·Serve as a key liaison with hospital leadership, contributing to strategic planning and service line growth.
·Champion innovation in cardiovascular care, supporting the development and execution of advanced procedures and technologies.
·Support and expand the regional cardiogenic shock and structural heart programs through clinical leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Clinical & Technical Oversight:
·Manage operation, maintenance, and repair of catheterization equipment and maintain protocol records.
·Supervise and provide assistance in emergency patient care.
·Coordinate evaluation and care of patients pre-, intra-, and post-procedure, including supervision of education and observation for untoward effects.
·Assist in policy development in accordance with regulatory compliance.
·Compile, analyze, and report ongoing data required for state licensure of the Cath Lab, as well as statistical and performance initiatives.
·Assist in determining fiscal requirements and monitor budgetary operational expenses, revenues, and supply inventory.
Personnel & Staff Development:
· Responsible for department work schedule, delegation of assignments, and proper staffing levels.
·Assist in personnel actions including performance appraisals, vacation scheduling, and other related duties.
· Develop and implement a professional growth plan for each staff member, enforcing attendance at appropriate in-service training, encouraging outside seminar participation, and assigning duties to maximize development.
·Foster a collaborative and accountable culture among staff.
Nursing & Patient Care Standards:
·Monitor nursing staff compliance and implement performance improvement initiatives regarding documentation of pain assessment, intervention, follow-up, re-assessment, and education.
·Plan and facilitate unit-based education to maintain and enhance clinical competency of nursing staff.
·Establish and implement evidence-based standards of care, evaluating patient care through the nursing process and comparing delivery to the established standards.
·Demonstrate understanding of the range of care needed based on the age and developmental needs of patients served.
·Provide considerate and respectful care focused on individual patient needs.
·Affirm and support the patient’s right to make informed medical decisions, including the choice to discontinue treatment as permitted by law.
·Assist patients in exercising their rights and inform them of responsibilities related to those rights.
Qualifications
·Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
·Master’s degree required within three years of accepting the position.
·Critical care experience, clinical cardiology, interventional radiology, perioperative or closely-related field for at least 3 years.
·Current endovascular/cardiac catheterization experience required or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
·Current NJ RN License required.
·ACLS Certification required.
·CPR Certification required.
