We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our engineering team in the North West Twin Cities Metro. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a passion for driving innovation and excellence in engineering processes.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage resource allocation, performance evaluations, and development plans.
Engineering Execution
- Oversee project execution from design to production release, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory codes (e.g., UL), and customer specifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Management to support product development, improvement, and customization.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations teams to ensure smooth transitions and resolve production issues.
- Participate in quoting and design reviews for large or complex projects.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Lead initiatives for design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-cost (DFC).
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce lead times and enhance quality.
- Stay informed of industry trends, technologies, and standards.
Technical Oversight & Risk Management
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical challenges or design decisions.
- Ensure risk assessments and mitigation plans are in place for high-impact projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum of 7 years' engineering experience, including 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong project management skills in a custom or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering documentation systems.
Additional Skills and Experience
- Experience with electrical equipment, such as switchgear, control panels, or power distribution products.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor), PLM systems, and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with UL, NEC, and other relevant codes and standards.
