Job Title: Drilling Analyst

Position Overview
The Drilling Analyst is responsible for evaluating rig equipment performance and drilling fluid programs by analyzing well-to-well fluids management data using proprietary drilling analytics software. This role ensures accuracy in data collection, aggregation, and reporting while collaborating with IT, technical services, sales teams, and drilling operators. Occasional domestic travel may be required to support field teams or client offices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze drilling fluid systems, solids control performance, waste management metrics, and cost data to quantify operational efficiencies and value.

  • Work closely with software developers and data engineering teams to enhance drilling analytics tools, support feature development, and troubleshoot issues.

  • Gather and interpret customer feedback to improve software usability and workflow efficiency.

  • Provide technical support to sales teams by preparing data-driven presentations and demonstrating performance improvements.

  • Evaluate regional drilling practices, fluid programs, and geological conditions to tailor recommendations for operators.

  • Train rig crews and customer teams on solids control best practices, equipment operation, and preventative maintenance.

  • Contribute technical content for field reports, case studies, and customer-facing documentation.


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Petroleum Technology, or related technical field.

  • Experience working on drilling rigs, with drilling fluids, mud systems, or solids control equipment (preferably 2–5+ years).

  • Strong understanding of drilling operations, fluid properties, pit systems, waste handling, and rig-site reporting.

  • Proven ability to interpret technical data and convert findings into operational recommendations or business insights.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data visualization.

  • Experience managing multiple technical projects or analytics deliverables simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.

  • Must reside in the Houston, TX area 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data analytics platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Power BI, Power Automate, or similar tools.

  • Prior involvement in drilling analytics, performance optimization projects, or digital oilfield technologies.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% (primarily day trips to rig sites or customer offices).
