Job description:

The Manager of Application Development is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and support of both vendor-packaged and custom-built internal solutions that enhance core banking systems and enterprise applications. This role ensures alignment with strategic plans and technology roadmaps, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of core banking developers, ensuring project success and system reliability.
  • Oversee software development methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and testing practices.
  • Work with executive leadership to drive technology initiatives and influence IT strategy.
  • Optimize core banking platforms such as Symitar/Episys, Jack Henry, Synergy, Synapsys, MeridianLink, Encompass, and IBM iSeries (AS/400).
  • Implement agile development and iterative project management methodologies.
  • Manage cross-functional collaborations with business units, IT teams, and external vendors.
  • Drive application modernization, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and enhance code quality, governance, and best practices.

Qualifications:

Must-Haves:

  • 6+ years of experience in financial institution technologies (Core Banking, Loan Origination, CRM, Digital Banking).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring, coaching, and professional development.
  • Hands-on expertise in software engineering, version control (Git), and software testing practices.
  • Ability to influence executive leadership and drive strategic technology decisions.
  • Solid understanding of agile project management principles.

Nice-To-Haves:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in core banking application development (Symitar/Episys, Jack Henry, PowerOn, etc.).
  • Familiarity with IBMs AIX operating system.
  • Proficiency in RPG, SQL, XML, JavaScript, and UI/UX frameworks.
  • Experience implementing IT governance frameworks and software engineering processes.
