CNC Programmer / Machinist A – CNC Milling

The Machinist A – CNC Milling is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision parts within required tolerances and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Programming & Machine Operation (80%)
- Write and modify CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks).
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines per blueprints and specifications.
- Design and build fixtures for machining operations.
- Select and secure tools, fixtures, and materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
- Monitor machining processes, adjust settings, and inspect finished parts for accuracy.
Safety & Maintenance (10%)
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area organized.
- Follow safety procedures, including proper machine operation and material handling.
Reporting & Miscellaneous (10%)
- Maintain production reports and quality records.
- Participate in training and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing/Technical Programming OR completion of an apprenticeship OR company training.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a qualified machinist.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
- Strong knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, and machining processes.
- Experience with Mastercam, SolidWorks, and inspection tools.
- Strong math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong time management and communication skills.
