Our client is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Foundation Operations professional to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing the day-to-day operations of grants, ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations, and maintaining the integrity of funding processes. The Grants and Compliance Accounting Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the entire grant lifecycle, from proposal development and submission to monitoring and compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with funding source guidelines by reviewing and understanding grant terms and conditions to guarantee adherence to funder requirements.
  • Recording accurate, consistent, and timely accounting to facilitate audit readiness, tax support, and budget vs. actual analysis.
  • Managing grant budget projections, ensuring spending is on track, and handling any necessary amendments.
  • Collaborating with sub-grantees to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with both U.S. private foundation regulations (including expenditure responsibility) and International FCRA laws.
  • Coordinating and reviewing legal documents such as grant agreements, sub-award agreements, and service contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.

Core Competencies and Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including general accounting, compliance, budget development, and grants management.
  • Strong verbal communication, active listening, writing, and editing skills.
  • Collaborative team player who is nimble, flexible, and highly resourceful, with the ability to wear many hats.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex issues quickly and collaboratively.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data and prepare summary status reports.

Software:

  • Experience with accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
