An AmLaw 50 international law firm's Intellectual Property – Patents Group is seeking a Patent Agent with at least 2 years of experience in computer science or electrical engineering. The position allows for flexible location and involves a dynamic role focused on emerging technologies.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
- Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, or related fields is advantageous.
- Strong technical and writing skills.
- Exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
- Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
- Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
- Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the Patent Office.
- Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
