Job description:

A respected and well-established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Manager Bridge Engineer to take the lead on complex bridge and structural projects across Pennsylvania and neighboring states. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer who enjoys balancing technical excellence with client-facing leadership and long-term business growth.

You will oversee bridge projects from concept through construction, working closely with public agencies, internal teams, and senior leadership. This position offers a clear path toward broader leadership, team development, and influence within the structural engineering discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze existing and proposed structures, including bridges, culverts, buildings, and related infrastructure
  • Plan, direct, and manage all aspects of local, county, and state bridge projects, including permitting and agency coordination
  • Lead and contribute to bridge inspection programs and reporting
  • Prepare clear, competitive, and technically sound project proposals
  • Provide construction-phase support, including contract administration, project coordination, permitting, and budget control
  • Manage project financials, ensuring compliance with budgets, schedules, and contractual requirements
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a trusted technical advisor
  • Represent the company within professional and civic organizations such as ASCE, NSPE, and local Chambers of Commerce
  • Support senior leadership in growing the structural engineering discipline and expanding client relationships
  • Progress into managing, mentoring, and developing a team of Structural Engineers and Designers, with responsibility for utilization, profitability, and overhead performance

Qualifications:

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Pennsylvania is required; New Jersey PE preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant bridge and structural engineering experience
  • Proven experience working with local and state agencies
  • Prior involvement in PennDOT and/or Turnpike projects is highly preferred
  • Strong client management experience across the full project lifecycle
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Solid understanding of contractual requirements and compliance
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
  • Experience with structural design software, including PennDOT programs
