Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

•        This person will use Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering techniques to improve production efficiencies and reduce costs.  Develops, evaluates and improves new or improved processes and manufacturing methods using continuous improvement techniques to improve the quality of our products and processes. 
Key Responsibilities:
•        Designing, developing, and troubleshooting PLC control systems and programming electrical and automation control systems.  Including writing software, testing systems, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
•        Focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining PLC style systems for industrial automation
•        Develop PLC programs and providing ongoing maintenance and support
•        Develop reliable PLC logic, programming industrial robots, and ensuring operational efficiency
•        Design and develop algorithms for robotic systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hardware and software solutions
•        Develop / maintain Standard Work Instruction for all production processes
•        Lead and/or support the selection and implementation of automation equipment and processes to increase output and reduce cost.
•        Provide technical support for manufacturing plants in Machine troubleshooting, fabrication techniques, including cutting, punching, welding and painting.
•        Analyze reports and collect data to determine and recommend changes in methods, tooling, and/or equipment to more fully utilize manpower to increase productivity, quality, or reduce cost.
•        Confers with vendors to determine equipment specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment to increase capability of production.
 
Qualifications:
•        BSME or related bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
•        Five years’ experience as a manufacturing or PLC programming in industrial manufacturing setting (preferred).
•        Hands on experience and knowledge of metal cutting and forming and welding processes (robot welding)
•        Familiar with Lean Manufacturing methods and concepts, Six Sigma methodology, Green/ Black belt certification/training.
•        Experience in machine design and machine control systems. Must be able to write control logic programs for PLC’s and CNC controls. 
•        Demonstrated knowledge of equipment controls/PLC required, automation/robotics experience desired.
•        Must be able to work with minimal direct guidance or direction from others
