Seeking an experienced Flour Milling professional with proven leadership skills, a collaborative work style, a passion for learning, and one who is decisive and takes initiative. As
you will assist in the supervision of and providing direction to all production operations of the milling department to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with established company policies and procedures while maintaining the highest level of safety, quality, and productivity. This position is responsible for providing direction, leadership, relief, and assistance for all levels of the milling department. As key member of the management team reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive a culture that values progress but respects tradition. Prior experience with flour milling production and knowledge of corresponding product quality specifications are essential.
Our client is a fully-integrated, plant-based ingredient supplier that provides true technical innovations with healthy baking solutions and food science within the culinary arts by providing conventional and custom blends of whole grain, multi-grain, organic, specialty, and gluten-free products milled from a broad spectrum of seeds, grain blends, and flours that create flavor, improve nutrition, and strengthen commercial branding for their customers.
Bachelor’s Degree is highly-preferred, but experience in the business will be taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis.
3-5+ years minimum as a Head Miller overseeing a flour milling production is highly-preferred.
Prior grain/wheat milling manufacturing or quality experience is required.
Technical expertise in all aspects of quality, food safety and sanitation for food manufacturing.
Strong working knowledge of food plant operations, production equipment, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and food quality standards such as HACCP, USDA, FDA, AOAC, FSMA, and ISO/IEC 17025.
Budgeting, P&L responsibility and development/implementation of capital improvement projects is essential.
Previous Union experience is a plus, but not required.
Decisive leadership skills and strong desire to take initiative.
Personnel management experience including setting clear expectations, defining schedules and milestones, conducting performance reviews, developing career advancement plans, etc.
Clear track record of driving continuous improvement; Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or CQE. certification is a plus. Must be able to apply mathematical concepts to practical operational situations.
Problem-solver with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Formal root cause analysis training is a plus.
Well rounded industry knowledge within Food and Flour Milling markets regarding industry trends, technical procedures, compliance regulations, new competitive products and/or technologies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Skilled presenter with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Knowledge of relevant environmental, health and safety regulations.
